AYURVEDA HODDESDON
Wellness garden
Before we arrived in 2021, Ayurveda Hoddesdon was sadly just 2 Acres of badly neglected and abandoned Waste Land.
Located just off the canal front at Rye House, it was a mess, completely covered in old weeping willows, overgrown thorns, weeds, and full of rubbish everywhere.
In 1995, the land was given hope! A nearby power station started a biodiversity project there, but sadly, this idea was scrapped, and with no one else to care and tend to it anymore, and the land was left dishevelled and broken.
Since our involvement, our very small team of hard workers have dedicated many hours into cleaning, clearing and repairing the abandoned land, which has since helped (as intended), to re-wild the area, increasing its biodiversity. This includes replanting over 300+ new trees in the area, as well as caring and planting a variety of other beautiful flowers and plants.
Our vision is to connect people with nature again, by transforming the land into a safe, self sufficient and flourishing green environment for all to enjoy visually, emotionally and practically, as well as reconnecting with the local community.
This hidden little gem now blends perfectly into it's natural environment, merging perfectly with the gorgeous views of the canal, whilst maintaining its own identity.

Learn More About Our Wellness Garden Here

We want to use Ayurveda to:
1. Work with local members of the community and beyond to ignite interest in saving and generating new life to the land
2. Use our Wellness Garden to create opportunities for therapeutic gardening, mindfulness and healing
3. Raise awareness and promote educational opportunities with the public and hopefully schools; not only through fun fact boards, but also through hands on gardening experiences, practical demonstrations, and skills, knowledge and exploration sessions
4. Create a safe public space available to use for events and gatherings, public hire, and wild camping as well as providing a weekly food bank service with any gifted food donations received.
5. Be an ever expanding home to a wild variety of plants, flowers and local wildlife, as well as provide a place of sanctuary and peace for all with and without garden access

WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR? (The main bits anyway lol)
-
Removed and recycled an indescribable amount of trash, garden waste and rubbish in order to revive the land back to it's most healthiest and natural state again
-
Turned the area into a beneficial Wellness Garden welcome to any and all visitors during our opening hours
-
Thanks to the very generous Woodland Trust - 300+ fruit and nut trees were donated to the land - One by one we planted them across the land, and also close to our soon to be fully revived visual pond.
-
Recycled and re-used the wood to make wood chippings for safe pathways and areas on and around the land
-
Began creating a Magical Enchanted Forest - A mystical walkthrough mini forest for all to explore - with many visual and sensory features located around, what (or who) will you find? Perhaps a fairy house or two? - positioned to entice visitors to come explore, share stories and enjoy making memories
-
Built, erected and repainted fences to provide a clear outline of our premises, enhance security and make it a safe space
-
Cleared an area ready to be used for Wild Camping and private events/functions
-
Achieved success in our first and sexond year of Wild Camping since 2023 with top reviews

Wild Camping
IT WAS A SUCCESS!!!!!

Our 2nd year of Wild Camping is complete!
We cleared a large forest floor open space area at Ayurveda for up to 50 tents. Thanks to our affordable prices, many new guests, visitors and familiar faces came down with their own tents and equipment and enjoyed their time at Ayurveda Hoddeson!. Many even shared a few barbecues together!

And it wasn't just full of explorative adults - Many brought their children too!
It was amazing to see everyone independently thriving and having fun in nature again!

We look forward to opening our open space to you all again next year!!
